Image
No matter how you look at it Linkedin remains one of most influential social media platforms.Aside from it's growing patronage among professional class and business leaders, the platforms provides invaluable opportunities for  learning and development. The above notwithstanding, it is important to note that certain actions or inaction s of us may undermine our ability to leverage the huge opportunities this blue platform provides. In this piece I share few. 1.Posting without positioning:Brand positioning is critical to both the professional and the algorithm. The algorithm needs to understand where it can place your content and who would be interested in having your content on their feed. Without a clearly defined brand positioning, you may fail to make the impact required impact on this platform. Personally, I have positioned as one that provokes social conversations in community. Alot of my most successful contents have achieved by consistent in provoking these kinds of conversat...

He Lived a legend and died as one, the man Daddy Lumba: SkobaComms writes

Image
Introduction Today, the mortal remains of the man Charles Kwadwo Fosu, popularly known as Daddy Lumba, will be laid to rest at Nsuta in the Ashanti region, where his life begun. It is an open secret that this process has neither been silk not smooth as his singing and talking voices. Indeed, this has been a long road to burial, one that, in my estimation, would further cement the legendary status of the man who commanded rare respect among his contemporaries, generations and the country, at large. The Man who commanded rare industry respect While alive, Lumba used scarcity to build an aura of grace around his presence. Truly, his presence was costly. Promoters and music connoisseurs have all attested to their difficulty in securing his services, for events. Consistently, the most recurrent themes in these narratives have been how the legend followed standards, time and procedures to the core. According to the few industry people around him, Daddy Lumba will not bend the r...

2025 WASSCE RESULTS, YET ANOTHER EVIDENCE OF OUR WEAKENING INTELLECTUALISM-SKOBAOFFICIAL WRITES

Image
Having been in the advocacy space for some time, I have come to understand and always held the view that Ghana’s intellectual base was fast eroding. Over the weekend, this long held view was confirmed as results for the 2025 WASSCE came through. From every indication, the results have been abysmal in all fronts. Per the provisional results, •131,097 students (30.27%) failed English Language. •220, 008 students (50.54%) failed Core Mathematics. •161,606 students (39.87%) failed Integrated Science. •196,727 students (44%) failed Social Studies. While intellectualism goes beyond academic performance, this results, for me, reflects a weakening intellectual base of the country. This article explores the broader issue of the weakening intellectualism in the Ghanaian society. Intellectualism is not socially rewarding I have never seen a country where people are so scornful of critical thinkers and studious individuals than Ghana. People deride intellectualism, calling critical minds aca...

Goldbod's July to September Report and Matters Arising, SkobaOfficial writes

Image
Introduction I am just reading that Goldbod has published its statutory quarterly report in line with the GHANA GOLD BOARD ACT, 2025 (ACT 1140). This spans July to September of 2025. While this has been applauded, pundits are raising queries with the following conspicuously missing lines from the report. What Activists are Saying They say these are supposed to be at the heart of every credible report of that nature: 1.There is no financial statement on gold board’s core mandate, the state-owned monopoly for gold trading, according to one Alfred Wood. 2.No reference is also made to how much funding the entity received for its operations. Per how Goldbod report its financial relationship with Bank of Ghana, it would appear as though the former is but a service provider or agent to the latter, which is even more curious. 3. There is no profit and loss analysis; to determine the viability or otherwise of the trade it is doing on our behalf. This is critical as the the profitability o...

Innova DDB Ghana Launches “Call Them Out” Campaign to End Silence on Familial Sexual Abuse

Image
Accra, 24th November, 2025 - Innova DDB Ghana, in partnership with Family Renaissance International (FRI) and 3Music TV unveiled the Call Them Out campaign, an initiative designed to confront the hidden crisis of familial sexual abuse and the culture of silence that often surrounds it.  The campaign was launched on Thursday at the Accra High School to coincide with the International Day of the Child, which promotes children’s rights and global action for their well-being. For too long, families have chosen to remain silent when abuse is perpetrated by relatives or close family friends, prioritising the protection of the family name over the safety and dignity of victims. The campaign challenges these social norms, and calls on society to speak up rather than placing the burden solely on victims. To mark the opening of the event, Mr. Joel Nettey, CEO of the Ninani Group, set the tone for the event, capturing the essence of the Call Them Out campaign - “Familial sexual abuse i...

JOURNALISTS SMILED, KGL WON: MY SITE PR EVALUATION MODEL OF THE 29TH GJA/KLG AWARDS-SkobaCommunications

Image
Disclaimer This article is without prejudice to previous engagements between KGL AND GJA. It does not take sides on the current media banter between KGL and the Fourth Estates. This is a purely an academic piece that outlines my observations at the 29 th GJA/KGL awards, as a Communications Consultants and Researcher. I have used the SITE model to do this assessment and stressed how events could be the biggest tool in a public relations tool kit. Situation Ahead of the ceremony, the Fourth Estate, a budding investigative outlet under the Media Foundation for West Africa, had withdrawn from the awards. According to the statement from the outlet, KGL, the headline sponsor of this year’s GJA/KGL awards, has been on their radar regarding the latter’s contract with NLA. They had cited copious media queries with KGL over this NLA-KGL deal. According to the Fourth Estates, despite generating revenue of over GHC3 billion from operating the NLA’s lottery, KGL was required to pay onl...
Introduction On Tuesday, I chanced on a webinar on the timeline of the Ministry of Finance's Facebook. I would discover that the star-studded webinar was an Economic RoundTable organized by the Ministry of Finance in collaboration with the University of Ghana. This rather publicized event brought together the creme de la creme in economic issues in the country. A few names i made out included, Dr. Ebow Turkson, Dr. Kwaku Sawa, Professor. Williams Baah Boateng,Professor Peter Quartey, among other illustrious economic lumanries. In this piece, i have shared a summary of the key points that key spokespersons, ably moderated by the respected, Bernard Avle, expoused. While the matters they touched on are not new, it appears the event revealed the passion and growing concerns that these distiguished persons have had on Ghana's rather dwindling economic fortunes: The budget is central government oriented it does not reflect the full range fiscal activities in Ghana... Informal sector...
